NOBEL LAUREATE VISIT TO KAZNMU DEAR UNIVERSITY STAFF AND STUDENTS!

08.05.2013

May 20, 2013 at «Concordia» theatre from 15.00 till 16.00 a lecture of Nobel Laureate from Germany Erwin Neher will be held.  The lecture will be translated to all medical universities and scientific research centers of Kazakhstan through informational platform of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan and on the website www.group-global.org.

Erwin Neher was born on 20th of March 1944 Landsberg am Lech (Germany). Known as a biophysicist, awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine in 1991 for developing the method of local voltage clamp, patch-clamp (patch — piece, clamp — fixing) — electrophysiological technique for the study of the properties of ion channels, which explains the fact that the fragment isolating the cell membrane via specific micropipette. This method allows the experimenter to control the potential difference between the sides of the membrane and put it in an environment with a certain chemical composition. These well-control conditions, measure the ionic current through the membrane, which, ultimately, allows to make conclusions of how ion channels respond to electrical and chemical actions. The method is so sensitive that it allows us to observe the behavior and chemical reactions of single molecules interacting with the membrane.
