The purpose analysis of the educational work carried out at the University is to show its effectiveness and efficiency, the participation of all university staff and students, and to note the changes that have occurred with the students under the influence of measures aimed at the development of their personality.

 

THE RESULTS OF QUESTIONING OF STUDENTS

Questioning of 1055 students (the blanks questionnaire) 1-5 courses of all faculties for an assessment of productivity of the educational work directed on personal growth and self-development of students is carried out. The questionnaire (electronic) for teachers was sent to 500 respondents, 290 completed questionnaires are received. Questionnaires are agreed with deans and educational department of educational work. The number of the questioned students was determined by a way of casual selection that made 15% of total of students of a bachelor degree (7080). 600 students of the faculty of general medicine, 154 students of the faculty of public health care, 154 students of the faculty of pharmacy and 151 students of the faculty of stomatology are questioned.

As a result of questioning of students the following results were received:

Students estimated the organization of educational work at university. 61% and 67% of students of faculties of the General Medicine and Public Health care highly appreciated level of the organization of educational work, also 35% and 30% estimated level as average and 3% of students from both faculties gave the answer “low level”. Similar results were received at questioning of the students of stomatology faculty (55%, 38% and 3%). However, students of pharmaceutical faculty estimated the organization of educational work in KAZNMU best of all. So, 74% of the questioned students gave appreciation, and 25% – an average assessment and only 1% – a low assessment.

It is possible to draw a conclusion that as a whole the vast majority of the interrogated students of university (97,5%) consider that the organization and carrying out the actions aimed at the development of personal qualities, a civic stand and moral values of students is carried out at satisfactory level and, in the majority, meets their expectations.

Students of faculty of the General Medicine didn’t note any preferences from the forms of extracurricular activities organized at university offered in the questionnaire. It is almost equally interesting to students to participate in charitable actions (46%), musicales (46%), theatrical representations (39%), sporting events (38%).It was most interesting to students of faculty of Public Health care to participate in sporting events (53%), musicales and concerts (42%) and theatrical representations (40%), and 23% of questioned students are ready to take part in debate. Students stomatologists preferred musicales and concerts (48%), sporting events (41%) and charitable events (39%), circles on interests (32%) are equally interesting. Musicales (37%), circles on interests (36%), debate (34%), theatrical representations (33%) are equally interesting to students of pharmaceutical faculty.

Also equally it was interesting to take part in circles on interests (38%), debate (33%), meetings with outstanding people (30%), conferences (29%) current academic year for students of faculty of the General Medicine. Among students of Public Health care of 39% and 36% consider that in 2013-2014 academic year student’s conferences and charitable actions were most interesting. As student’s conferences (32%), debate (29%), meetings with known people (28%) and theatrical representations (27%) were interesting to students stomatologists in current academic year.

Students of pharmaceutical faculty consider that all actions are useful which purpose is education of moral values, patriotism and a civic stand (31%) as they highly appreciate a role of charitable events (23%), sporting events (27%), meetings with known people (21%),

Participation in social projects (27%), in volunteer work (11%), in patriotic events (8%) is the most attractive and useful for students of the faculty of General Medicine according to the analysis of the events organized at university in 2013-2014 academic year.Special preferences weren’t found when students of faculty of Public health care answered a question “What forms of extracurricular activities of students are most interesting and useful PERSONALLY to YOU? “, because it is equally interesting to participate in social projects (21%), volunteer work (20%), patriotic actions (14%), also 16% of respondents interest all educational events held in the current year. It was personally interesting to students stomatologists to participate in volunteer work (21%), social projects (15%), in patriotic actions (6%), and 9% of stomatologists are interested in all actions, carried out at university for personal development of the student. Conferences (17%), social projects (15%), patritichesky a merporiyatiya (14%), volunteering (11%) are interesting for students of pharmaceutical faculty this academic year.

89% and 90% of students of faculty of the General Medicine and Public Health care consider that they change for the better under the influence of the educational actions realized at university. Respondents consider under “change to the best” is first of all, desire more to read fiction, independently to visit theaters, secondly, is a change in the speech, behavior, big aspiration to help people around, to participate in social projects, charity, etc.79% of students of pharmaceutical faculty as consider that they changed to the best, and 17% – partially changed. Students stomatologists had some other vision of personal changes under the influence of events held at university. So, 53% of respondents of the student consider that they changed for the better, 26% estimated it as partial changes, 12% think that didn’t change in any way, and 9% were at a loss with the answer.

79% and 72% of the questioned students of faculty of the General Medicine and faculty of stomatology answered categorically “yes”, and 16% answered in the negative on a question “As you think, whether the university needs to continue the organization of theatrical performances at Concordia Theatre next academic year? “. Affirmative answers was more (88%), and negative it is much less (5% and 8%) among students of faculty of Public Health care and pharmacy.

The most interesting, useful and remembered events held this academic year are the testimony of productivity of the educational work which is carried out at university: Holiday Nauryz (100%), Ms. KAZNMA (92%), Competition among faculties (70%), Mr. KAZNMU (60%), Etnofestival (60%), Republican debatny tournament (47%), the Action against tuberculosis, Conference on tuberculosis (32%), the Concert for children of orphans (25%), Dedication in students (15%), fleshmob (11%), Scientific student’s conference (7%), the Open Day “Histology” (7%), Competition in physiology (5%), “KozyKorpesh – Bayan Sulu” (34%), “BozbalaBoyzhetken” (35%), “Birtamshyzhas” (50%), Evening of “Abay readings” (11%). Students listed more than 30 various musical, patriotic and sporting events.

Students respondents of the first five courses of all faculties noted chairs and modules where, in their opinion, interesting and useful educational work is carried out. On younger courses it is Informatics, Political science, Sociology, Anatomy, Latin, the Kazakh language, Histology, Physiology, History of Kazakhstan, Biochemistry, Molecular biology, Communicative skills, Pathological anatomy, OBZh, Microbiology, the Pathophysiology, Pharmacology. Among profiling chairs/module is a Therapeutic stomatology, Orthopedic stomatology, Propaedeutics of surgical stomatology, Surgical stomatology, Children’s stomatology, Propaedeutics of orthopedic stomatology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Internal diseases No. 1,2, the ENT SPECIALIST, the General surgery, Nutritsiologiya, Children’s diseases No. 1, Obstetrics and gynecology No. 2, Oncology, Infectious diseases, the General hygiene and ecology, Hygiene of children and teenagers, the Druggist-analyst, Pharmaceutics manager.

The following was revealedat clarification of opinion on a role of dean’s offices in the organization of educational work and carrying out various actions aimed at the development of the identity of the student, his social and psychological support:

–          Students of faculty of the General Medicine estimated activities of the dean’s office for 5 ball scale, thus 53% gave a mark “perfectly”, 29% – are “good”, 5% are “satisfactory”, the others were at a loss with the answer.

–          Students of faculty of Public Health care as estimated деятельнсотиь from voy dean’s office. 61% – are “excellent”, 25% – are “good”, 9% – are “satisfactory”, other students didn’t give the answer.

–          The students stomatologists responding to the questionnaire, estimated activity of the dean’s office for “perfectly” (60%), for “good” (21%), for “satisfactory” (11%).

–          Students of pharmaceutical faculty estimated work of the dean’s office for “perfectly” 68%, 25% for “well”, 3% for “well”.

Thus, the majority of students as a whole are satisfied with the organization of educational work as dean’s offices. In this research students of pharmaceutical faculty highly appreciated the dean’s office that was reflected in the highest quality indicator (96%).

 

THE RESULTS OF QUESTIONING OF TEACHERS

Online questioning was carried out for clarification of opinion of teachers of KAZNMU about the organization of educational work at university:

44,6% of teachers are completely satisfied and 37,7% are partially satisfied with level of the organization of educational work at university that in total makes 82,3%. Despite a high quality indicator, it should be noted that less than a half of respondents consider that level of the organization of educational work meets their expectations, and 17,7% of respondents aren’t satisfied with the organization of educational work at university.

The majority of respondents teachers (86,5%) initiate, participate and realize the actions aimed at the development of the identity of the student. In a bigger measure they connect it with need of participation for the competition KPI. Respondents consider that our students need development of such personal qualities, as social and moral (55,3%), patriotic (43,9%), all-intellectual (60,6%), common cultural (57,6%), professional (62,12%), that is, practically all qualities of the person and the citizen. Therefore, nearly a half of teachers consider the student of KAZNMU as the personality with insufficiently developed outlook, culture, and a certain deficiency of patriotism. According to the conclusion only thirds (31,88%) teachers, students of KAZNMU are a personality with a broad outlook of knowledge which seek for continuous self-development. A half of respondents (46,5%) consider that some efforts for this purpose are required from staff of university.Nevertheless, 81,2% of teachers respondents consider that positive dynamics in development of students under the influence of educational actions realized in KAZNMU is observed.

The number of actions of the educational character organized at university current academic year is: the optimum – 53,1%, excessive also distracts students and teachers from educational process – 30,77%, and a number of actions does harm to educational process (“removal of students from lessons”). However 11,54% of respondents consider that few events of educational character are held at university.

According to a half of respondents (50,7%) the corporate culture is developed in the student’s environment of KAZNMU. Nevertheless, 30,3% of respondents hold the negative opinion, and 18,4% were at a loss with the answer. All forms of educational work applied in KAZNMU, are considered as the accepted. 9,23% of respondents consider that 100% of action of the educational character, carried out current academic year, were useful and effective for students, and 71,6% of respondents expressed opinion that more than 60-70% of actions possessed such qualities.

Teachers estimated esthetic level of actions of the educational character organized at university current academic year. 14% of teachers gave an assessment “5”, 44% – an assessment “4”, 27,3% – “3”. According to 7,25%, esthetic level of actions was “unsatisfactory”.

Thus, despite not high activity of teachers in questioning (500 questionnaires are sent, 290 people answered), there are results of actions of the educational character which is carried out at university. 82,3% of teachers support, 86,5% actively take part in them. According to a third of teachers (30,3%) the student’s corporate culture needs development. Though the majority of teachers (81,2%) consider that all events held at university (concerts, performances, conferences, scientific and social projects, volunteering, etc.) positively influence the identity of the graduate of KAZNMU. However our students still need to work over itself and to develop not only professional competences, but also universal qualities (moral, patriotism, culture, ethics, an esthetics, the general outlook).

The result of monitoring: the organization of educational work in KAZNMU in 2013-2014 academic year can be considered satisfactory.

 

Recommendations for improvement of the organization of educational work in university:

  1. It is necessary to coordinate accurately all actions for educational work, previously to make the analysis of their pedagogical expediency and productivity (the thought-over and coordinated plan of work), considering a large number of the actions organized in KazNMU.
  2. Organizers of educational work of KAZNMU and chair have to pay bigger attention to the organization and to carrying out the educational work directed on formation and development of a civic stand, patriotism, moral, culture of behavior, humanity and professional shape of the physician, considering results of arrangement of priorities for students (entertaining actions have a great success when patriotic, scientific and informative actions have smaller success). Teachers have to recruit bigger number of students, involve undergraduates in this process.
  3. It is necessary to consider data on offenses among students, interns and other violations of disciplinary, ethical character for the current academic yearwhen forming the plan of educational work for new academic year and planning of the actions, responsible for the organization of educational work at university, dean’s office, chairs/modules.
  4. To strengthen a role of tutors and to define their responsibility for formation of personal qualities of the student.
  5. To spend new academic year under the motto aimed at the development of legal competence, legal literacy and responsibility of all members of collective.
  6. To introduce the psychological-consulting service promoting prevention of offenses in KAZNMU.
  7. To increase the volume of the funds allocated by higher education institution for the organization of educational activity (prizes and awards for winners).
  8. It is necessary to provide the key student’s organizations with accommodation for holding meetings, planning of actions, i.e. it is necessary to create “student’s office” (3-4 rooms) for improvement of the organization of educational work.
  9. The department on educational work has to integrate the actions aimed at the development of the identity of the graduate of KAZNMU on post-degree level, speed up work of chairs of post-degree level.
