CENTER FOR MONITORING, ANALYSIS OF EDUCATION QUALITY AND ACCREDITATION (MAEQA)

Center for monitoring, analysis of education quality and accreditation (MAEQA) is a structural division of KazNMU named after S.D.Asfendiyarov. It was founded by the rector’s order based on the decision of  Academic council (protocol number 1 from September 23, 2010). It is included into the Institute of University Development since 2013. Since 2013 the Centre MAEQA coordinates University participation in the national rankings of universities and educational programs, and in international rating QS WUR.

      Management of the Center:

  • in 2010-2011: Meiramkul Abirova, candidate of pedagogical science.
  • in 2011-2014: Saule Sarsenbayeva, doctor of medical science, professor, high category physician.
  • since November 2014: Talgat Kilybayev, master of sociological science, PhD, doctor of philosophical science.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE CENTRE

Strategic activity of Centre is determination of an accurate path of enhancement of the forms of government educational process and development of educational activities of University for the purpose of increase of competitiveness of educational services and formation of the highly competent expert of a medical profile who is competitive in external and internal labor markets.

The Center works by following directions:

1) monitoring of quality of the higher medical education at university and development of recommendations about improving;

2) scientific support of educational process through development of strategy and recommendations about development of Model of medical education in KAZNMU, study of technology of educational process in higher education institutions of the world;

3) professional cooperation with educational organizations and international associations through scientific publications, involvements in conferences, project activities.

4) technical training and coordination of the work on the passage of institutional and specialized accreditation of educational programs;

5) methodological support of the university’s participation in the national rankings;

6) the development of the strategy for integration of the University in the global ranking of universities TOP-700 and methodological support of the preparatory stage.

Performance indicators of the Center for MAEQA

31 monitoring works were carried out for 2010-2012 where 10 from it were discussed on Academic Council. Centre for MAQEA invited Agency “ DAMU Research Group ” and “Transparency Kazakhstan” which carried out sociological researches and gave an assessment for demand and competitiveness of graduates of KazNMU according to opinions of employers, also they gave information about bribery (corruption) in the university.

       The Centre together with DAMW, School of public healthcare realized the university internal grants:

  1. “Development and implementation of educational programs based on the formation of the competences of medical schools graduates” (deadline: April-December 2011).
  2. “The Bologna Process in Asfendiyarov KazNMU as a condition for the quality assurance of education” (deadline: April-December 2012).
  3. “Talents in the service of the University” (deadline: March-December 2013).
  4. “Strategy Kazakhstan-2050 implementation through development, implementation and development of creative technologies” (deadline: March-December, 2013).

  • Recommendations on percentage ratio of traditional and active (interactive) methods of teaching according to the levels of teaching at faculties (approved by Academic Council, protocol #4 from November 29, 2011).

Initiatives of the Center

       Since 2011 KazNMU became a member of 5 international Associations at the initiative of the Centre for MAQEA. There are Association of medical education in Europe (AMEE), European Association of Universities (EUA), Association of Dental Eduaction in Europe (ADEE), Siberian Consortium of Distance Learning “Siberian Open University”, Association of Medical Schoolsin Europe (AMSE). These memberships influence on reputation and rating indicators of higher education institution.

       The center keeps in contact with Associations through performances and involvements in forums (Malaysia, Estonia, Russia, the Korean Republic, Singapore, Taypey), publications, correspondence.

       In 2010-2012 the Centre carried out informational project “Model of medical education of KazNMU”. 13 books devoted to competence-oriented model of medical education were published..
